A family dream shared with you
The Middle Creek Tree house began as a dream for Kip Wells and his son, Kip Wells II. After Kip II watched Tree House Masters, he and his father decided it would be a wonderful thing to have a Tree House for the family to use for generations to come. Kip Senior's wife, Barbara, agreed. Unfortunately her beloved husband passed in December 2013, before this dream could become a reality .
In 2014, the Wells family decided to begin plans to build the Tree House and make this dream a reality for the family. Kip II and his son Macey, along with cousin Cory Falwell began planning together. It was important to them to use lumber from the Wells family land. They cut trees down and sent them to a sawmill ran by Leon Nelson in Lincolnville, Kansas. All of the wood for the floors, walls, deck, cabinets, and trim are made from trees that the family cut from their land. It was a long process. When building this way, you can't just run to the store for a 2x4. If you want a door, you build it!
Cory, a home builder, designed the Tree House along with his cousins and uncle. Over time the family dream of having a property together came to life. Cory had a new job to focus on - the construction continued in the capable hands of Kip II and his sons Brad and Macey Wells. Kip and Macey learned how to build cabinets and trim, along with all of the different projects that needed to be completed. Brad helped wherever he was needed, especially on the work on the exterior of the house.
As the project progressed and it was nearing completion, the boys realized they needed a female perspective to help with decorating the Tree House and enlisted the help of Kip's wife, Sherry and their daughter, Laura Anderson. The great-grandchildren of Kip Senior and Barbara Wells: Brooke, Ben and Luke Wells and Eli and Noah Anderson helped with ideas and came up with adding kayaks and board games and they also painted the upper windows, adding a personal touch.
After a little more than 3 years, the family began spending nights at the Tree House and decided they wanted to share the experience of the Tree House with others.
